What’s New for the 2019 Honda Accord?
Still new into its eighth generation of production, the Honda Accord does not get a lot of changes for the 2019 model year. The top-level Touring is now restricted to a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline 4-cylinder (I4) engine, which produces 252 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. It is no longer available with the 1.5-liter turbocharged I4 —a n engine that produces 192 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque—that is standard on the other trims: the LX, Sport, EX, and EX-L. You can also go with the 2.0-liter if you choose the Sport or EX-L. As the racing-style variant, the Sport is the only trim that has a standard 6-speed manual transmission. Plus, should you go instead with the continuously variable transmission (CVT), which is standard on the other trims (with the 1.5-liter), you can add paddle shifters to simulate a manual gear-shifting feel. The 2.0-liter engine is always paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Although a five-seater, the 2019 Honda Accord provides 105.6 cubic feet of passenger space with the LX and Sport; and 102.7 cubic feet of passenger space with the EX, EX-L, and Touring. Standard cargo space is measured at 16.7 cubic feet. A driver’s seat with 12-way power adjustability and 4-way power lumbar support is added on the Sport, and you can upgrade the EX for heated front seats. The EX-L and Touring replace the cloth seat trim with leather, and 4-way power adjustability is added on the front passenger seat. (Only the EX-L has a 2-position memory for the driver’s seat.) For more comfort and convenience, the 2019 Accord also comes with cruise control, Active Noise Cancellation technology, dual-zone automatic climate control, Bluetooth®1 wireless technology, push-button engine start, four-speaker audio, a USB port and an auxiliary audio jack, and a 7-inch widescreen display.
The Sport is upgraded with four additional speakers, hands-free text messaging ability, an additional front-row USB port, a driver information interface, an 8-inch color touchscreen (instead of the 7-inch), Apple CarPlay™2 and Android Auto™3 for smartphone integration, and HondaLink™4 remote access. With the EX trim level, the Accord also gets remote engine start, HD Radio™, and a trial subscription to SiriusXM® Radio. Only the EX-L gets an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a universal home remote, and a 10-speaker audio system. Standard safety features on the 2019 Accord include a multi-angle rearview camera with dynamic guidelines, hill start assist, electronic vehicle stability and traction control, auto high beams on the headlights, an anti-lock braking system, electronic brake-force distribution, brake assist, LED daytime running lamps, and eight airbags (dual front impact airbags, driver and front-passenger knee airbags, two front seat-mounted side-impact airbags, and a pair of side curtain airbags). Also standard is the Honda Sensing® suite of advanced driver-assistance technologies, which consists of adaptive cruise control, road departure mitigation, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, collision mitigation braking, traffic sign recognition, and forward collision warning. The EX, EX-L, and Touring also get a blind spot information system with a rear cross-traffic monitor.
