What’s New for the 2019 Honda CR-V?
For 2019, an additional exterior color finish is the only change on the Honda CR-V, which still critically and commercially remains on top of the compact crossover SUV world. Now in its fifth production cycle, the CR-V is available in four trims: LX, EX, EX-L, and Touring. The base-level LX is powered by a 2.4-liter inline 4-cylinder (I4) engine, which generates 184 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque. The other trims use a smaller but more powerful 1.5-liter turbocharged I4, which generates 190 horsepower and 179 lb-ft of torque. Each engine is mated to a continuously variable transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, with the option of going with an all-wheel-drive system for better performance on less-than-ideal driving surfaces.
With two rows of seats, the 2019 Honda CR-V can seat up to five people. Passenger volume is measured at 105.9 cubic feet on the EX, 102.9 cubic feet on the EX and EX-L, and 101.6 cubic feet on the Touring. The CR-V provides 39.2 cubic feet of cargo space, and you can fold down the rear seats to expand the space to 75.8 cubic feet. At the EX trim level, Honda upgrades the SUV with the front-seat heating capability and a 12-way power driver’s seat with 4-way power lumbar support. Honda introduces leather seat trim in place of cloth, a driver-side 2-position memory system, and a 4-way power-adjustable front-passenger seat on the upper-level EX-L and Touring. Standard comfort and convenience features on the Honda CR-V include cruise control, Bluetooth®1 wireless connectivity, a four-speaker audio system, a USB port and an auxiliary audio jack for playing media from portable media devices, and a 5-inch color LCD screen.
At the EX trim level, the CR-V is enhanced by dual-zone automatic climate control, a driver information interface, push-button engine start, an additional USB port in the front for playing media and two rear charging-only USB ports, two additional speakers, a 7-inch color touchscreen (instead of the 5-inch), HondaLink®2 remote connectivity, hands-free text messaging ability, Apple CarPlay™3 and Android Auto™4 for smartphone integration, and complimentary access to SiriusXM® Radio. An auto-dimming rearview mirror, a universal home remote, and two more speakers are added at the EX-L level. And exclusive to the Touring is HD Radio, a voice-activated satellite-linked navigation system, and a 9-speaker audio system. Standard safety features on the 2019 CR-V include six airbags, vehicle stability assist, an anti-lock braking system, electronic brake-force distribution, brake assist, LED daytime running lamps, auto high beams, and a multi-angle rearview camera. The EX trim and higher have the additional blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and the Honda Sensing® suite of driver-assist technologies that include adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, road departure mitigation, and lane keeping assist.
