What’s New for the 2019 Honda Ridgeline?
Since its inception in the mid-aughts, the Honda Ridgeline has always stood apart from the traditional pickup truck as a “lifestyle” vehicle. That’s because it incorporates unique features such as an integrated bed, a dual-action tailgate, and an all-wheel drivetrain instead of the standard four-wheel-drive system. The 2019 model year is part of the Ridgeline’s second production cycle, and it is split into six trims: RT, Sport, RTL, RTL-T, RTL-E, and Black Edition.
Powering this lifestyle truck is a 3.5-liter V6 that produces 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. It is joined to a 6-speed automatic transmission, with a heavy-duty transmission cooler added on the uppermost-level trims. Rear-wheel drive is standard on the base-level RT while the aforementioned all-wheel drive is standard on the RTL-E, and Black Edition; you will have the choice between the two on the other four trims. The Ridgeline’s cab provides two rows of seats to accommodate up to five occupants, with a passenger volume that peaks at 109.7 cubic feet. The second row has an under seat storage volume of 2.9 cubic feet. Standard interior features on the truck include cruise control, push-button engine start, a seven-speaker 200-watt stereo system, Bluetooth® wireless technology, a USB port and audio jack for connecting mobile devices, a USB charging-only port, a 4.2-inch color LCD screen for the truck’s multi-information display, and a 5-inch color LCD infotainment screen. Added on the Sports trim are a remote start, tri-zone automatic climate control, and a garage-door opener. At the RTL trim level, the Ridgeline is upgraded with leather seat trim, front-seat heating, a 10-way power driver’s seat with lumbar support, and a 4-way power front passenger seat. The RTL-T comes with additional auto-dimming ability on the rearview mirror, a subwoofer for 25 watts of extra audio power, an 8-inch touchscreen, HD Radio™, Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay™ for smartphone integration, HondaLink® for remote connectivity, hands-free text messaging, a trial subscription to SiriusXM® satellite radio, and a navigation system. Only the RTL-E and the Black Edition have a two-position memory system and a truck bed-based eight-speaker 540-watt stereo system. For safety, the 2019 Honda Ridgeline starts with features such as vehicle stability assist with traction control, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, hill start assist, electronic brake distribution, brake assist, a multi-angle rearview camera, and daytime running lights (DRLs). Restraint and cushioning, in particular, is provided by dual front impact airbags, dual front seat-mounted side impact airbags and dual side curtains. Honda LaneWatch™ for expanding your side horizons makes its lone appearance on the RTL-T, and LEDs replace the halogen bulbs of the DRLs. The Honda Sensing® suite (i.e., adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, collision mitigation braking, road departure mitigation, forward collision warning, and lane departure warning) and a blind spot information system with rear cross-traffic alert are added on the RTL-E, and Black Edition trims.
