The 2013 Honda Odyssey vs. the 2012 Kia Sedona
Highland and Merrillville-area families looking for a new minivan should think about the 2013 Honda Odyssey. This spacious minivan can seat up to seven and fit a great deal of cargo as well. It can also be set up to tow quite a bit in case you want to take the family out for a trip with the camper. There are other minivans out on the market these days, like the 2012 Kia Sedona, but at Bosak Honda we stand behind our vehicles. That’s why we’re going to take a closer look at how these two family vans stack up.
More Torque and Better Fuel Economy
When you drive a minivan, you need the extra power. Both the Odyssey and the Sedona come with a 3.5L V6 engine, but the Odyssey manages to push out the extra torque (250 lb-ft of torque versus 248 lb-ft of torque). The trade-off for many minivans with extra power is to have lower fuel economy, but the 2013 Odyssey manages to beat the new Sedona in that respect too. Base models both get an estimate 18 mpg in the city, but the Odyssey’s 27 mpg highway exceeds the Kia’s highway fuel economy.*
Spacious Interior With Plenty of Cargo Space
Even though a vehicle’s specs says it can fit seven people doesn’t mean those seven people will be comfortable. Rather than being squished like sardines, the Odyssey has a very spacious interior offering more front shoulder room and rear hip room than the Kia.
It also offers more cargo space than the Sedona, so you’ll have no trouble taking your entire family out on a road trip. The Odyssey fits 38.4 cubic feet with all the seats up while the Kia minivan fits 32.2 cubic feet. Maximum storage is also better: Honda lets you fit 148.5 cubic feet of cargo and Kia can only fit 141.5 cubic feet.
